Product Description
9mm Luger; 92% blue, 10% straw, Good bore, very good grips, 4'' barrel, This scarce u suffix Luger variation was manufactured/assembled by Mauser circa 1933/34 using parts acquired during the transfer from DWM-BKIW. Original blue finish, strawed small parts and checkered walnut grips. The numbered parts (in the commerical style) are matching. The magazine is a sheet steel variation with wood bottom which is not numbered. The grips are not numbered. The toggle has a high polish finish, common as Mauser was doing some experimentation with finishes at the time. The top of the toggle is stamped with the DWM monogram, the chamber is blank. A large Oberndorf crown/U proof is located on the left side of the receiver and crown/U proofs also appear on the left side of the breechbolt and bottom of the barrel. From the collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess, this pistol is featured on pages 538-539, 611 and 750 of the book "The Borchardt & Luger Automatic Pistols" by Joachim Gortz and Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Condition: Very Good plus overall, the metal finish shows light sharp edge wear and some high point holster wear, with some minor scattered surface spotting and some thinning on the front grip strap. The straw color on the small parts is fading and turning dark. The grips have a few light handling marks with sharp checkering. Mechanically fine. The bore has strong rifling, showing some frost in the grooves. C&R/FFL, s/n 92xxu, Catalog Number D-55
